As hiking enthusiasts, we’ll be happy to consult you as you plan your hiking tours. We can even point out some of the less-popularized hiking routes – quiet, out-of-the-way places without all the crowds. Hiking maps, guide books, hiking sticks, and Alpine flower pocket guides are all available for your use.
You can also pre-order a special Swiss packed lunch for us to send you along with your tea for the hiking tour. Further provisions are available from the grocery store just across the street from the hotel.
Summer hiking recommendation:
Ride the cable car up the Niederhorn. From the mountain station, hike north over the Güggisgrat – a comfortable climb up to the Burgfeldstand. Follow the narrow mountain path through the nature reserve to the Gemmenalphorn. With a little luck, you’ll be able to see the alpine ibex up close and smell the fragrance of the alpine rose. Descend via Alpiglen toward Waldegg. Hiking time: 4hr 15min
Winter hiking recommendation:
Niederhorn – Waldegg. Walking along one of the loveliest winter hiking paths and toboggan runs is a treat you won’t soon forget. Aside from the many impressive surrounding mountains, Lake Thun captivates hikers with its deep blue color. Pass by snow-covered trees, and see the occasional tracks of rabbits, snow grouse and chamois. Hiking time: approx. 3hr
Snowshoes are available to rent directly from us, and there are two new marked trails to explore. Trudging along through the snowy landscape is a pure delight – when will you be giving it a try?
